Griff and Stella's Story
One of the most meaningful partnerships formed by Angie’s Angels Foundation has been with the Warniment family—Laura and Al Warniment of Putnam County, whose story of courage and faith has touched countless lives.
The Warniments faced every parent’s worst nightmare not once, but twice: losing two of their young children—Griffin and Stella—to Wilms tumor, a rare childhood cancer. Griffin was just five years old when he was diagnosed with stage four Wilms tumor. Despite early signs of hope, his condition worsened, and the Warniments sought treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where they found both cutting-edge care and comforting support. Sadly, Griffin passed away in September 2005.
Years later, the family experienced the unimaginable again. Their daughter Stella, only two years old, was also diagnosed with Wilms tumor. While treatments had improved thanks to ongoing research at St. Jude, Stella’s cancer returned aggressively. Nine months later, Stella joined her brother Griffin in heaven.
Despite profound heartbreak, the Warniments remain hopeful and faithful. They believe Griffin and Stella’s purpose may lie in helping to one day cure childhood cancer. In honor of that hope—and in memory of Angie, Griffin, and Stella—Angie’s Angels Foundation proudly partnered with the Warniment family to make a significant donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
This collaboration celebrates the legacy of love, strength, and giving that connects these two families. Together, they are helping ensure that no family faces childhood cancer alone, and that the vital mission of St. Jude—to find cures and save children—continues.
Angie’s Angels stands firmly in support of families facing adversity, and is honored to support St. Jude’s work in bringing hope, healing, and joy to children and families around the world.
